    Mr.Tarek Fayed

    Chairman & Chief Executive Officer   

Mr. Tarek Fayed has assumed the Chairmanship of Banque du Caire starting from January 1st 2018, he has more than 28 years of experience in the Banking Sector, he worked for a number of well reputed financial institutions in Egypt and abroad covering various areas, such as Banking Supervision, Risk Management, Audit & Risk Review and Corporate & Investment Banking.

Previously he was the Sub Governor of the Central Bank of Egypt in charge of Macroprudential Surveillance, Off Site Supervision, licensing and Credit Registry, he joined the Central Bank of Egypt in 2008 as a part of the second wave of the Egyptian Banking Sector Reform Program for upgrading the Banking Sector. During his tenure he worked on restructuring and upgrading the units in charge of to bring it to international supervisory standards, in addition to the development of effective risk- based approaches through the introduction of early warning tools and techniques such as stress testing, rating models…etc to continuously monitor various types and developments of risks facing banks and ensure the safety and soundness of the Banking Sector. Mr. Fayed is currently a board member in I-Score, Credit Guarantee Company, Arab International Bank, the United Bank, Agriculture Bank of Egypt, also the member in the Technical Committee of the Islamic Financial – IFSB, Arab Trade Financing Program, PTA Bank (COMESA financial arm) and was part of the negotiations with the International Monetary Fund - IMF.

Before joining the Central Bank of Egypt he assumed the responsibility of the Arab International Bank, Chief Risk Officer and member of the bank's Audit, Risk and Steering Committees from 2006 till 2008. He joined Samba Financial Group in Saudi Arabia – an affiliate of Citigroup - as an Audit Director from 2004 till 2006. From the period 2000 till 2004 he worked for Citibank as the Vice President in charge of various Corporate & Investment Banking activities, after spending several years working for the Egyptian American Bank – an affiliate of American Express Bank" - as a Senior Manager - Corporate Banking Department.

Mr. Fayed holds a BA degree in Commerce from Ain Shams University. He also holds several banking certifications in credit and risk management. 


Mr.Amr ElShafei

Executive Vice Chairman

Amr El Shafei Joined Banque du Caire (BdC) as Executive Vice Chairman on Jan 1st 2018. Before that, he was Group Head of Corporate Banking, Debt & Structured Finance at The National Bank of Egypt (NBE), Board Member of Al AHLY Capital Holding and Board Member of Al AHLY Leasing.

Prior to NBE, El Shafei worked with Barclays Africa as Regional Head of Corporate Banking & Corporate Products for Egypt, Kenya & Tanzania based out of Egypt. He was also member of the Executive Committee for Corporate & Investment Banking for Africa (except SA). He joined Barclays Bank in Egypt as the Corporate Banking Director in Nov 2012 moving from Barclays UAE. He served with Barclays UAE in 2008 as Head of Extended Coverage Countries (GCC) where he spent c. 1.5 yrs after-which he moved on as Head of Corporate Coverage for Abu Dhabi & Northern Emirates (Sharjah & the Northern Emirates) where he spent circa 2.5 yrs.

El Shafei moved to Barclays from Citigroup in UAE where he served as Vice President in Corporate Finance responsible for coverage and origination; focusing on GREs & Top Tier Local Corporates. He had also worked with Citigroup in Cairo as an RM & Leasing Product Manager and with Mashreqbank in Dubai with its International Corporate Division, managing Saudi Arabia, Bahrain & Kuwait. Prior to his time with Citi’s Corporate Bank in Egypt, he did on-the-job training program with Bank of New York in Colorado & New York as part of the Egyptian Government’s Executive Training Program back in 1999. The latter was during his time as Marketing & Credit Manager for Incolease (The International Company for Leasing) where he spent 2 years as one of the core team setting up the Firm's portfolio & credit policies. 

 Before Incolease, El Shafei spent c.5 years with HSBC’s Corporate Bank in Egypt where he started his career and did his Executive Training Program

 El Shafei hold a Bachelor degree in Economics and Political Sciences from Cairo University.




Mr.Hazem Hegazy

Executive Vice Chairman 

Hazem Hegazy has joined Banque du Caire as Executive Vice Chairman in March 2018, with more than 25 years' combined experiences at the Retail and SME banking sectors in Egypt and Gulf Area.


Before that, Hazem occupied the position of Chief Executive Officer of Retail & SME's at National Bank of Egypt (NBE), that was cause a fruitful progress and development in both sectors' performance.  


Prior to NBE, Hazem has gained his expanded experiences due to his occupation in various multinational banks in and outside Egypt.


Hazem Joined Mashreq Bank then moved to Standard Chartered Bank in UAE.

Furthermore, he headed the branches network at Al Ahly United bank in Qatar.


Then he moved to Egypt to occupy various posts including Head of Retail at Arab Bank, Head of Retail and Branches group at National Bank of Egypt & Barclays between (2008 – 2014) until he reached the position of Chief Executive Officer of Retail & SME's at NBE.


 It's worth to be mentioned that Hegazy is currently a member of Visa international Advisory Board,
and was previously a board member of Al Ahly Mortgage company and Network International Company.


Hegazy hold a Bachelor degree in the accounting from the faculty of Commerce, Cairo University.






Ms.Amal Esmat

Non-Executive Board Member 

 Amal Esmat enjoys long banking experience of more than 20 years mostly with Citigroup in the Middle East. In her last assignment with Citi, Amal was Middle East Regional Risk Management Head for Citigroup Global Markets Limited - Dubai during the period from 2006- 2016. Prior to this appointment she was the deputy Regional Risk Management head for the middle East based in Bahrain during the period from 2005-2006. Amal Joined Citibank in Cairo in 1997, as a Relationship Manager in the Corporate Banking Team. in 2003, she joined Risk Management with her appointment as Credit Risk Analytics Department Head for Citibank Egypt. Prior to Citi, Amal had worked for 3 years as a Project Finance Officer with Export Development Bank of Egypt. During her banking career which focused mostly on corporate Banking and Credit risk Management, she participated in various training courses mostly organized and managed by Citigroup. This is in addition to on the job training and audits conducted on many branches in Africa, Middle East, North Africa and London.

It's worth mentioning that, Amal holds an MBA in International Banking and Finance from University of Birmingham - UK, and is an Engineering undergrad with BSC in Chemical Engineering from Cairo University.






Mr.Ashraf Bakry

Non-Executive Board Member

Ashraf Bakry is the Managing Director of Unilever Mashreq and a member of the NAME (North Africa and Middle East) Leadership Team. He has over 20 years of experience in both Supply Chain and General Management in multinational organizations.

In 1992, he started an academic career as a demonstrator in the Faculty of Engineering.

One year later, he joined Procter & Gamble in the quest for new challenges where he spent 6 years in various manufacturing assignments in Saudi Arabia as well as regional category international assignments which involved working in UK and France looking after a consolidation project in the Middle East, Africa and Pakistan.

In 1999, Ashraf joined Unilever as Factory Manager in the Supply Chain department.  Four years later he was given the additional role of Regional (Africa, Middle East and Turkey) Oral care and Deodorants Supply Chain Director and joined the Global Oral Care Supply Chain Leadership Team.

In 2006, he moved cross-functionally as General Manager for Levant & Iraq where he managed to double the business in three years.

In January 2009 he joined the NAME board as Regional Supply Chain Vice President looking after Supply chain in 20 countries spanning between Dubai and Casablanca. This involved managing 10 factories across the region as well as associated procurement, Logistics, cross-border sourcing, customer service and Demand/Supply planning.

Out of interest in the business side, he moved back in 2014 to become the Managing Director leading the Unilever business in the Mashreq region based in Egypt.

Ashraf co-chairs the Industrial and Trade committee in the American Chamber in Egypt, is part of the internal trade development committee and is also the head of the Egyptian cosmetics export council (Part of the medical/cosmetics export council). He is also an advisory board member in Faculty of science in Alexandria.

Recently he has been appointed as a non-executive board member in Banque du Caire

He is one of the founders of Eid*Eid NGO involved in lots of social development activities in Egypt as well as a board member in Association of Management Advisors (AMA) focusing on Youth development in Alexandria.





Mr.Ramy ElBorei

Non-Executive Board Member  

Dr. Ramy El Borai, Managing Partner of El-Borai & Partners, is admitted to practice law in Egypt and in the State of New York. He advises on various aspects of commercial, corporate, banking and finance law and has closed on diverse and complex transactions, covering a wide array of structures such as Project Finance, Asset-backed Finance, Capital Leasing, Derivatives, Loan Syndications and Risk-Participation Agreements. He has cumulated extensive expertise in investment banking transactions, including initial public offerings, private placements, debt raising exercises along with the foundational and structural work such transactions implicate and he also advises on the establishment of on/offshore PE funds.

In his capacity as managing partner of El-Borai & Partners, a leading and specialized law firm in Labor related matters, Dr. Ramy El Borai has also cumulated extensive expertise in labor law and has been at the forefront of complex and successful collective bargaining processes along with the internal corporate revamping and restructuring of the labor force for a number of domestic and multinational corporations. 

Former assistant lecturer at the University of London, Queen Mary and Westfield college, former assistant lecturer at Southern Methodist University, Dallas, Texas, lecturer for the ethics, conflict of interests and legal writing courses with the American Bar Association, Continued Legal Education Program (CLE), lecturer in Labor Law with the American University in Cairo - Management Centre, lecturer contract and commercial law in the MBA Program of Ecole Supérieure Libre des Sciences Commerciales Appliquées (ESLSCA)

Dr. El Borai is a former partner at Sarie-Eldin & Partners and former legal consultant to the World Bank’s financial sector in Washington D.C., former VP Legal Counsel at the National Investor (Abu Dhabi) and former senior legal counsel at the National Bank of Abu Dhabi. He holds a PhD from the University of London in Cross-Border Corporate Insolvency, LLM from the University of Warwick (UK), LLM from Southern Methodist University (TX), LLB from Paris I Pantheon-Sorbonne and LLB from the University of Cairo.




Mr.Tamer Wageh

Non-Executive Board Member 

Engineer Tamer Mohamed Wagih Salem is the Chairman of the Board of Directors and Primary shareholder in Prime Holding Group. He has a B. S. C in Construction Engineering from Ein Shams University in 1995, and now member of the Board of Directors of Banque Du Caire. He had also been Chairman of the Board of Directors of many investment companies, including Coproza Prime for Construction, Cairo Contractors Company, Prime Pharma for International Trade, Prime Mining, Prime Foods for Food Products and Prime Tours for Tourism.

Salem has several diplomas and has attended several training courses including one on Advanced Business Management and Priority Discipline, and a course on High Speed Business Delivery. He has also several diplomas in the fields of business management and Business Development.

He has also filled several posts at the community level, both locally and regionally, Including Chairman of the Committee of Foreign Investors at the Saudi Chamber of Commerce in Riyadh, Member of the Board of Directors of the Egyptian Saudi Business Council, Member of the Egyptian Emirates Business Council, and Member of the Board of Directors of the Canadian Chamber of Commerce in Cairo.  He has also participated in numerous public welfare activities, particularly in the field of planning and comprehensive development especially youth projects, most salient of which is his initiation of the idea of a national project for youth and local community development entitled "Your Project"(Mashrou'ak) for the development of small enterprises. He has also been chosen as a speaker in the Emirates Center for Strategic Studies from 2012 and until today

Salem has received dozens of awards and certificates of merit at both the local and international levels including a certificate of merit from the Egyptian Military Council for his support of youth and development projects, the Arab Distinction Award for the Best National Project, Award of the Emirates Sheikh Zayed Foundation for Dedication, Award of the Emirates Center for Political and Strategic Studies, Honorary membership of the Saudi Association for Voluntary Work, Award of the Initiative of Sheikh Saleh Kamel for Community Service, The Saudi Medal of Voluntary Work and Community Service, Award of Sheikh Elisa Ben Ali Al Khalifa for Community Service from Bahrain, Award of the Sultanate of Oman for Voluntary Work, Award of the Leagues of Arab States on the Arab Day of Voluntary Work, and Award of the United Nations Voluntary Program




Mr.Wael Zeyadah

Non-Executive Board Member  

Wa'el Zeyadah, is the Chairman of the Board of Directors and Managing Director of  Hermes Finance Group. He has a B.A. in economics from the American University in Cairo in 1998, and is now a member of the Board of Directors of Banque Du Caire. He is responsible for the vision and the executive plan of Hermes to venture into the field of non banking financing with the aim of diversifying the sources of income and reducing dependence on the volatile money market sectors.

Mr. Zeyadah has established  the Hermes Finance group Leasing Company which was able in less than two years since its establishment to have leased assets worth more than 1.5 Billion and to be rated as one of the five largest leasing companies in Egypt. He also contributed to the acquisition of "Tanmeya Company for Financing Micro Projects" and restructuring it to become part of Hermes Finance Group.

Mr. Zeyadah has more than fifteen years experience in money markets in the Middle East. He was head of the Investment Research Sector in Hermes Group Holding Company from 2008 to 2014. He completely restructured this department and introduced vital changes to the system of work in it. The department issued research reports on 140 companies listed in Arab Stock Exchanges. It also issued economic reports on the largest ten countries in the region as well as strategic reports covering various investment fields, including investment strategies and flows of international investment funds. It also released two of the largest and most accurate and reliable stock indexes in the Arab world.

He succeeded in assessing and promoting several Initial Public Offering (IPO) deals most important of which is Vodafone Egypt, Eemmar Malls Group. Tala'at Mostafa Group, Telecom Egypt, Palm Hills for Real Estate Marketing, the Arabian Cement Company and promotion of the first real estate investment fund in the Arab world, the Emirates Real Investment Trust (Reit)

From 1999 until December 2003 Mr. Zeyadah was the financial analyst in the Research sector of Hermes Finance Group, and from 2004 until December 2007 he was head of the Communication Sector Research Department in the company.
